it is the creation of a network to study patients affected by psychiatric diseases in view of their qualification to the protocols of the cell therapy.
This prospective study opens a new field in research which is extremely promising. This project will determine the role that stem cells will play in future.

Transplant diseases against the host

the objective of this clinical research project is to study the incidence, risk factors and the organs after a double placenta blood transplant on adult patients affected by haematological malignant diseases.

In other words, this retrospective study will allow to concretely evaluate the consequences of cord blood stem cells transplants. This study will be leaded by Professor Eliane Gluckman, pioneer in cord blood stem cells transplant, based on a sample of selected patients.

Clinical research project on women affected by sickle cell disease

This project, realized by the Becker hospital in Paris, Biotherapy department, with the Ob-Gyn service and the Observatory on sickle cell disease, will analyse the results of an integration of oxygen in pregnant women affected by sickle cell disease and the collection of medical key-data about the mother, the baby and eventual siblings. Besides the fact that this attempt gives relief to pregnant women affected by sickle cell disease, it will complete doctors’ knowledge on this disease in order to treat it in the best way.

Allocated Budget: 20.000 euros for 2014.

CORDONS DE VIE ACTS AGAINST SICKLE CELL DISEASE

Purchasing machines to identify the sickle cell disease in new-borns.

The identification of the sickle cell disease in new-borns and the immediate intervention before the symptoms showed up, allows to decrease 10 times under-five child mortality. The purchasing of these machines will save many lives and will give relief to a lot of children who will be cured before any complication.

3 machines have been purchased and installed: one in Niamey-Niger, one in Antananarivo – Madagascar and one in Saint Louis in Senegal.

Cordons de vie financed, with more than 3.500 euros, personnel’s training who uses these machines.
